Wood Retaining Walls

Wood Retaining Walls

C&J Fencing builds retaining walls for areas of your yard that are sloped and need to hold back soil. We build wood retaining walls to support soil at different levels to help keep a slope that it would not naturally keep without.

With a retaining wall, you could have a buildup of water that collects at the base of the retaining wall, so we also offer the installation of a french drain to help the water drain from behind the wall. We build a small trench and install a perforated pipe with gravel over the top. The pipe runs along the length of the retaining wall and helps the water have somewhere to go other than building up behind the wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need a retaining wall?

A retaining wall prevents soil from falling down and allows for the dirt to be retained at different levels on each side of the wall. Without a retaining wall mud, soil and water can flow into your yard and cause problems with structural integrity and safety in your yard. A retaining wall will help mitigate these issues.

  • Does a retaining wall cause drainage issues?

C&J Fencing offers the installation of a french drain to ensure there is no buildup of water behind the retaining wall that could cause more issues in your yard. A french drain is installed by digging a small trench and installing a pipe that is perforated with holes. Gravel is put on top of this to help filter out the water so it doesn’t accumulate at the base of the retaining wall alleviating any drainage issues you may have.
